Re: [TSL] ] Ship searching for this. Departing Fairlight, Sussex, ENgland Arriving Fairlight, Assa, NWT, (now Saskatchewan) Canada 1885

I sent a reply to this question but didn't see it come through to the list.
Here is some additional information.
The FARR, STALKER and HYDE families of Fairlight Sask are related by
marriage.

I believe that Henry Hyde married Mary Hannah (Harriet) Farr, widow of
Thomas Stalker . The surname in the 1901 census for the daughter Eva was
most likely STALKER not STockley (or Hockley as I suggested before).
Perhaps the marriage record would be in the Anglican archives.

The brother of Thomas Stalker who died in 1890 in Fairlight was Nicholas
Stalker who had married Mary Hannah's sister Gertrude back in Ontario in
1879. Gertrude and Mary's mother was Harriet Farr who is buried in Moosomin
North Cemetery.. Harriet Farr and Nicholas Stalker died in 1890 -3 days
apart.
The marriage record for Gertrude and Nicholas is from Brunel, Muskoka,
Ontario Both families originated in England.
Gertrude Farr and Nicholas Stalker had 3 children. I believe the local
history book "Across border and valley : the story of Maryfield & Fairlight
& surrounding districts." contains errors. There many more records
available online now that when that book was researched and written.

Perhaps the Fairlight name came from another English family. The Stalker
family also attended that school.
