Hi Alison,

During my childhood and teens I 'soaked up' a number of stories about 
pirates and their ilk where they 'stalked' ships on the High Seas, board 
them to capture crew and their cargoes, often leaving the 
crew/passengers afloat in the lifeboats while the pirates took off with 
the ship and its cargo as contraband to add to the coffers of their 
'lord and master' back home.
