Hi,
In 1838 the "P.S. Sirius" left Passage West, Co. Cork for New York to
become the first ship to cross the Atlantic entirely under steam power.
On that historic voyage to America she was captained by Lieut.. Richard
Roberts R.N. a native of Passage West.

The Sirius left London on March 28th. for Cork where she loaded coal and
provisions and at 10am on April 4th.
she left Passage West and arrived in New York on April 22nd.

As part of the 175th. Anniversary celebration we are organising in
Passage West a Maritime Exhibition and Water based activities, etc and I
am trying find out if a record of the passenger list for the voyage
exists. She carried a crew of 38 and 40 passengers, we have the names of
the crew and perhaps some lister may be to help with the passenger list.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks

Jim Murphy
On Behalf of the Organising Committee.
