[TSL] Triggs and SCADDING family, esp. Henry SCADDING
Penny Ford <pzf5722@yahoo.com> on 11/24/2012

I am related to Dr. Henry Scadding of Toronto via his mother. In his diary he mentions on 22 Dec 1835 my ggg grandmother "Mrs. Triggs" and either my ggg grandfather or my gg grandfather (both were named William Triggs.) This was during Henry Scaddings years as a divinity student in England. He visited my family's home in Tedburn St. Mary, Devon, on that date, walking the 8 miles from Exeter for the purpose.

My great great grandfather William Triggs emigrated about 1849-1852. He wound up with family first in Libertyville, Illinois and then by 1856 in Fillmore County, Minnesota. We have found no record of his immigration. I wonder if perhaps he might have gone first to Canada to the Scadding family -- other members of the Triggs family, the Illinois branch, emigrated in the late 1840's, and perhaps they might have gone to Canada first, also.

Anyone have any ideas for finding leads on this?

Thanks.
