According to his grave marker at Waverly Cemetery he was a native
of Lincolnshire

 The NSW Probate index via State Records Archives Investigator
has him recorded as John Cohn WATSON ref # 19077 series 3 ,
probate granted 4 Nov 1889

Waverly has John Colin WATSON ?

Do you have copy of his death cert ? Does it give clue to length
of time resident ?

 He married in 1853 St Marys RC Sydney . When did Honora NUGENT
arrive here ?
