G'Day Ted,
Much obliged for the details of the Canberra,Duntroon &
Taroona.
In regards the Duntroon, she had a couple of nasty
incidences during her lifetime. The sinking of
HMAS GOORANGAI is fairly well documented but another
episode does not appear to be as well
known or documented. In 1943 she collided with and sank
USS PERKINS, a destroyer, off the Queensland
coast.Do you have any details of this collision in your
records ? From memory (!)  the USS PERKINS cut
across the bow of the DUNTROON and was sliced in two and
sank rapidly.Exactly where it occured and what
loss of life is unknown to me.Does anybody know these
details ?
