Hi Johno. Both of these were built by Blyth Dry Docks & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, Blyth.Ans were sisterships. 4 holds not unlike tankers of their day, accomodation aft, with bridge and officers in midships house, two large hatches forward and two aft. They were 7530 grt on dimensions of 458ft x 58.7ft x 26.1ft. single screw, triple expansion by North Eastern Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. Sunderland.
TIMBARRA was comleted in Nov 1954 for the Australian Shipping Board aand transferred to Australian National Line in Feb 1957. Sold to Alter Marine Corp. Liberia, in 1969 and renamed PATERELIAS. Sold in 1973 to montauk Maritime Ltd. Cyprusand renamed MONTAUK. Arrrived at Split for demolition after tow from Malta in November 1973.
TALINGA was completed in Oct 1955 for the Australian Shipping Board aand transferred to Australian National Line in Feb 1957. sold to Elios Compania Nav. S.A., Panama in July 1970 and renamed GALLANTRY. Driven aground at Hong Kong during typhoon "Rose".on August 17, 1971. refloated Sept 5,but was declared beyond economic repair and deliverd may 1972 to Lee Sing Co. Ltd Hong Kong for demolition
