Does anyone know if the SS Pernambuco, of the Hamburg America Line, departed Hamburg, for Brazil on or about March, 1891.
I am trying to find a passenger list for a ship called the "PERNAMBUCO". She was the second of three sisters built by Reiherstiegwerft, Hamburg: PETROPOLIS (1882 yd338), PERNAMBUCO (1883 yd 342) and LISSABON (1883 yd 345) for Hamburg-Sud's Germany/Brazil/Argentina service.
PERNAMBUCO was 2027grt 1523nrt 87.2 x 11.1 x 7.9m with a 2-cylinder compound engine also by Reiherstiegwerft of 875ihp giving a service speed of 10 knots. She was launched in Mar 1883, delivered on 7 May and sailed from Hamburg on her maiden voyage on 2 Jun.
The three sisters were all sold by Hamburg-Sud in 1894/95 - in the case of PERNAMBUCO she went in Dec 1894 to Woermann Linie of Hamburg for service in their West African trades as the KURT WOERMANN. she was stranded on 22 Dec 1894, on the return leg of her maiden voyage with Woermann, off Addah, Gold Coast.
My ggrandfather, ADAM GRABSKI,b1868, in POLAND y married FELISCHESI, b 1874, in POLAND. They married 05 Feb 1890 in POLAND. This family immigrated to BRAZIL about 1891. Family tradition (which is often in error) indicates they came through the port of VITORIA - ES, BRAZIL. In my research I have found several GRABSKI with similar names, but none that match my family. Any information will be helpful.
His father's name was Francisco Grableski and mather's Eva or similar Her father's name was Stanislaw Nidskoski and mather's Catharina or similar
