I have a translation of a "diary entry" about the 1847 journey of my gg Grandparents, with children, from Aalburg, Netherlands to St. Louis. The ocean part of this voyage would start from Amsterdam or Belvoot, Netherlands. From the diary, the family arrived in Amsterdam April 8 "and the 11th of the same departed and the 13th of the same arrived in Belvoot and Monday 20 same went to sea." They had a choppy voyage through the Channel which they "came out of" on May 1. … "The 11th [of June] we came to the city of Baltimore. The 14th we left the ship."
The family consists of Lambert Michael, his wife Johanna Verbeek, with Petronella (b, 1835), Gijsbertha (b. 1837), Anna (b. 1839), Bartha [Barta] (b. 1841), and Yenneke Maria (b. 1844). Petronella was my great Grandmother. A distant relative in the Netherlands said the ship was the "Peitre Flores." (I've requested information on that ship at earlier times, but I had no information to accompany the request.)
I would appreciate any help with finding information on this voyage. I'm VERY new at following the emigration/immigration routes, and really don't have the faintest ideas where to start.
Sue McCormick.
