Subject: [TSL] What was the attraction in NY ?
Someone ask what was the attraction in New York. My guess would be all the clothing factories, considering that the man was in the ironer in a shirt factory. Seems logical that he would head up there.
Possibly BUT I just wondered how he would have known about that maybe before he left the wilds of country South Australia around 1900. The original query was which way would he have gone from Australia to go to New York ?.
Anyway he probably wasn't a sheet collar ironer before he left Aus. Just checked and its 10627 miles from Adelaide, South Australia as the crow flies east to New York City . Via Cape Horn probably twice that distance :-)
